Reentry Award

In honor of National Reentry Week April 24-30, 2016 established by the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, PbS annually provides Reentry Awards to help ease and support youths’ transition from secure placement to the community. PbS began the Reentry Award in 2016 and has supported six youths in four different states. The awards of up to $1,000 each have been used to purchase household items such as linens and dishware, clothing appropriate for job interviews, a phone and first month’s rent on an apartment. As the developers of the national reentry measurement standards for youth programs and services, PbS is continually building its reentry knowledge and looking for ways to make reentry successful for all youths.
